Find the program in your computer and delete it.

If it is the corporate version you would need the main disk that it was originally used to uninstall. I believe the same goes for older version of Norton. If it was downloaded from a website, it should have come with uninstaller. You may want to go to Norton's website and ask them for better advice.

norton is probably the most stubborn of anti virus systems. if you go to their web site you can find a remover tool, but even then you can find traces of it in your registry. i ended up having to reinstall windows to finally get rid of it.
go to control panel and click on an icon that says remove programs and it will load and say what you have on your computer and all you do is click remove
Click on control panel and then click on remove hardware. It will list everything on your computer and it should have a unistall button for norton.
go into My Computer==%26gt;Hard Drive===%26gt;Program Files==%26gt;(Something Norton Should pop up)===%26gt;Then a uninstal icon should be in the Norton File
control panel, add/remove programs, find it, remove button. then find it in program files then delete the remaing files (if any)
Unistall it and restart computer.

I have Nortons even though I never like it, it came with my window vista and when it expired I just bought another one and reinstall it, the only reason I got nortons again because the one that I bought covers 3 computers, but I am thinking about next year of not reinstalling but using AVG free instead, I used avg for over 3 years and never got a viruse. If your friend is letting you install it for free then I would put it in my computer that way you can judge for yourself if you like it or not and no what to do next year.

Nortons is the very worse garbage on the market. Plus a hugh resource hog and will cause you massive grief if you install with Vista. Or any other platform for that matter.

My IE 7.0 suddenly crashes right away every single time I open it. I can't even check any settings. This only happened immediately after I installed Norton Antivirus and Confidential 2007. I tried Norton's suggestion of disabling Internet Worm Protection and deleteing all blocked programs.

I also uninstalled and Reinstalled IE.

Windows XP with 768 MB of RAM. I cleaned all temp files as well.

First of all yours is not the first PC that norton has caused problems to. AVG free edition is a good choice. As far as IE it sucks anyway get firefox or opera.

IE7 is not for Windows XP , so un-install IE7 and go back to the trusted IE6. and enjoy.

First check to see if it has an uninstall program bundled with the software, most programs like this do.

Second if you can't find an uninstall program then open Windows Explorer go to the folder where the file is kept and search for uninsta*.* This should give you the uninstall program.

If that doesn't work then you need to do it through Windows Add/Remove programs, but you can't do it while the program is still running so you need to restart your computer in Safe Mode.

Restart your computer and when Windows starts to boot up keep tapping the F8 key, don't hold it down or the computer will not recognize it. When the computer finishes it will put up a mostly black screen and ask you what mode you want to use. Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode." also, when i boot up the pc, a bunch of apps (ie yahoo msgr, aim) get started up that i dont use and i wind up shutting these apps that start up upon boot by right clicking on the icons in the lower right hand corner of the screen and exiting out. how can i remove these programs from starting up automatically on boot so i dont have to go thru the nonsense of exiting from a program (ie yahoo msgr) that start up when i turn on the pc and have an icon sitting in the lower right hand corner of screen? thanks much

Go to Start Menu

Run...

type: msconfig

hit OK

When the system configuration window comes up

Select "Selective Startup"

On the top tabs, go to "Startup"

Uncheck the items you don't want to start.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can also turn off services that the system runs automatically, but this is a lot riskier.
