I'm looking for a good but cheap anti-virus program, I am currently using XP with an old Noton Antivirus and have looked at Norton's most recent package and all the reviews are bad, any suggestions?

Norton is a resource hog, and frankly inefficient due to its popularity (ie much like Internet explorer browser many people use Norton so often malicious software is coded with that fact in mind - plus Norton is bloat bloat bloat)
go free i say. look into AVG or AntiVir. AVG is VERY good, much better than Norton at catching viruses and staying current on definitions and in its heuristics (in my opinion anyhow). I would, honestly, recommend ALMOST anything over Norton

A friend of mine got a virus using a current - totally up to date, fully paid for - version of Norton, and it wouldn't delete the virus.
In fact it became a nuisance because CONSTANTLY kept reporting the virus, but didnt do anything with it!!
I uninstalled Norton and installed AVG (free version) from grisoft and it deleted the virus as soon as i did a scan.
