Looking for anti-virus/Internet security software.?

I'm looking around for anti-virus and internet security software - usually I use Noton Internet Security. Someone has suggested AVG - what exactly is this and is it trustworthy? People have also suggested free downloads such as lava soft, are these genuine and to be trusted, why is it free, what do they want from you in return?

try avast or agv type in web browser any of these and you will get a free antiviris
Microsoft currently offer their Live OneCare for a free 90 day trial if you're interested in that. It'll scan for viruses, spyware, has a firewall and can help back-up existing files. It's worth a try maybe?

i think the best antivirus is: avast home edition, its got allot of feeters like "p2p shield" "boot-scan" and it comes with a screen saver, so wen your pc go's to screen saver, it scans all your files!!
